Roblox can now notify your game when a purchase is refunded
A new webhook covers products, passes, private servers and paid access. Start by matching refund events to the benefits your game delivered.
Roblox has introduced a Transaction Refunded webhook for refunded or charged-back Robux purchases. It covers developer products, passes, private servers and paid access; subscriptions use separate events. The September 23 announcement gives developers a way to connect a reversed purchase to the benefits their game awarded.
Refunds do not undo custom rewards
Roblox can revoke pass ownership, but developer-product benefits stored in your game's data need your own handling. Receiving a notification does not automatically remove saved currency, boosts or unlocks.
The event includes buyer and product details, a transaction or receipt identifier, and refund timing. Its Robux amount represents the product's original price, which may differ from what the buyer paid. Do not treat that field as an exact payment ledger.
Start with a refund log
Our recommendation is to connect one game's refund events to a log before automating changes to player data. Match each event to the original purchase and the benefit actually granted. Decide what should happen when a reward has already been spent, rather than blindly subtracting a product's price from an in-game balance.
Configure a webhook secret, verify incoming signatures and deduplicate events using NotificationId. Custom endpoints need HTTPS, POST support and a successful response within five seconds. Only the group owner can configure notifications for group-owned games. The webhook documentation covers setup and security.
Do not assume missed refunds will catch up
Roblox's sources currently disagree about outages: the announcement FAQ says the event will not fire if your endpoint is down, while the general delivery policy describes five retry attempts. Neither establishes guaranteed catch-up after an outage. Monitor delivery and test your handling before using these notifications to remove benefits automatically.
