Roblox adds in-experience makeup creation and purchases
Roblox now supports creating and purchasing custom makeup inside games. Check owner eligibility, token costs and moderation handling before building a checkout flow.
Roblox launched In-Experience Creation for Makeup on October 15, 2026, according to its October 15, 2026 announcement. Developers can let players design and purchase eye, lip and face makeup, plus eyelashes and eyebrows, inside their games. Finished creations go into the player’s inventory. This gives teams building avatar customization games a purchase flow tied to player-authored looks.
Eligibility and purchase limits
Roblox says game owners need Roblox Plus or Roblox Premium, specifically Premium 1000 or 2200. Owners must purchase Avatar Creation Tokens through Creator Dashboard for the item types they enable. The announced sales share is 70% after recouping the creation advance: 30% for the item creator and 40% for the game creator.
Support is limited to R15 avatars, and makeup does not currently support emissives. Creations must pass UGC validation and moderation. They are personal-use items, not inventory that players can sell, resell or trade. Roblox says assets rejected for violating community standards receive no refund, though users can appeal. Our recommendation is to explain these limits before checkout rather than after a rejected submission.
Test the complete creation flow
We’d start by inspecting the uncopylocked Roblox Avatar Creator demo this week, then following the makeup creation guide to prototype painting, purchase and moderation handling. Roblox provides PromptCreateAvatarAssetAsync() for an individually authored asset and the new PromptCreateMakeupAsync() for combining two or more makeup layers into an outfit.
According to the announcement, teams should listen for AvatarAssetModerationCompleted and, for multi-asset makeup, AvatarOutfitModerationCompleted to determine when approved creations are safe to use in-game. Our recommendation is to test the waiting and rejection states alongside the successful checkout path, and check appearance across the R15 heads players own.
