Roblox updates discovery measurement across all games
Roblox is changing how discovery activity is counted across all games. Mark the reporting change before interpreting higher counts or a lower play-through rate.
Roblox is updating discovery measurement for every game starting October 12, 2026. Its October 12, 2026 announcement says a more reliable delivery pipeline will capture more activity from Home, Search, and Charts that could previously be lost during app shutdowns or crashes. This affects teams interpreting impressions, clicks, plays, and play-through rate (PTR) in Creator Analytics.
What the numbers mean
According to Roblox, reported impressions, clicks, and plays may increase. PTR may fall slightly because the increase in recorded impressions can exceed the increase in plays. These measurement-driven shifts do not represent changed player behavior or game performance.
Roblox says the update applies to all games simultaneously, with similar effects across games, so comparisons and benchmarks remain valid. It does not alter how Recommended For You selects games. Roblox expects minimal effects on relative recommendation positions; the announcement is not a ranking update.
Annotate your reporting this week
Roblox requires no developer action and will leave historical data unchanged. Our recommendation is to mark October 12, 2026 in your team's reporting notes, then compare periods before and after that date for each affected discovery source. Review impressions and plays together rather than treating PTR as an isolated signal.
We'd start by checking whether a lower PTR coincides with impressions rising more than plays. If a thumbnail test, acquisition campaign, or game update overlaps the measurement change, record that overlap in your review. Our recommendation is to avoid crediting higher counts to that work, or treating lower PTR as deterioration, without accounting for the reporting shift.
